For B Corp Readiness

B Corp readiness, structured.

ImpactOS gives SMEs a practical way to frame the B Corp conversation, organise the evidence and build the carbon baseline. In one place. Not another spreadsheet. Not a one-off consultant report.

The new standards raise the bar

B Lab's new standards, published as V2 in April 2025 and updated as V2.1 in August 2025, replace the points-based assessment with minimum requirements across seven impact topics, alongside Foundation Requirements that include a company risk profile, with continuous improvement expected at Year 0, Year 3 and Year 5.

That clarity is welcome. It also raises the bar. SMEs need a clearer way to discuss principles, spot gaps, organise evidence and build momentum. What most teams have instead is documents scattered across folders, carbon data spread across finance, travel and suppliers, no clear B Corp owner, a gap analysis living in a spreadsheet and evidence collected when the deadline hits.

What ImpactOS does

Not another spreadsheet. Not a one-off consultant report. ImpactOS gives teams a practical way to frame B Corp principles, manage the work and keep evidence moving in one place. Three steps to start well.

Frame the standards

Use B Lab's topics and requirements to shape the right internal conversation: what matters, what exists and what still needs attention.

Understand the gaps

A structured gap view turns missing policies, data points, owners and proof into clear actions, so the work is visible and owned rather than living in a spreadsheet.

Organise the evidence and carbon work

Policies, supplier proof, worker evidence, climate data and audit documents live in one place, and activity data becomes a repeatable carbon baseline built with GHG Protocol logic and DEFRA/DESNZ conversion factors.

Seven impact topics. Six practical workstreams.

B Lab's V2 standards set minimum requirements across seven impact topics, from purpose and stakeholder governance through climate action, fair work, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), human rights and environmental stewardship to government affairs and collective action. ImpactOS helps translate the seven topics into six practical workstreams, with evidence and carbon data connected as the work develops.

Purpose and governance

Purpose, stakeholder governance and legal requirement evidence organised for internal discussion and future review.

Climate action

Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 activity data structured using GHG Protocol logic and UK Government conversion factors.

Fair work and JEDI

Good jobs, wellbeing, inclusion, diversity and fair opportunity evidenced through policies, tasks and outcomes.

Human rights

Supplier, customer and workforce practices aligned to respect for people, risk checks and documented remediation.

Circularity

Environmental stewardship, waste, resource use and circular economy actions tracked from policy to proof.

Collective action

Government affairs, advocacy and collective action commitments recorded without turning them into a side project.

The carbon work, done properly

Climate action under the new standards needs a clear method, not a side spreadsheet. ImpactOS structures Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 activity data with corporate inventory logic: boundaries, assumptions and calculation records kept visible, and UK Government conversion factors applied with factor year, category, unit and source retained for auditability.

One place. The whole journey.

A topic view holds the impact topics, open questions, gaps, owners and status. An evidence library keeps policies, supplier proof, worker evidence, climate data and audit documents together. And when you need to share, you can export gap views, carbon summaries, action plans and evidence lists for boards, advisers and certification conversations.

How it works

Week one

Framed

Company profile set up. The topics, your size category and risk profile understood. First topic review under way.

Month one

Moving

Gap view built. Owners assigned. Carbon data sources connected.

Ongoing

Ready

Evidence kept current and the baseline repeatable, whether you're starting fresh, preparing to recertify or already certified.

Beyond certification

The same evidence works harder. The structure you build for B Corp readiness also answers tenders, customer due diligence, investor packs and procurement questionnaires. One effort, many outputs.

Why ImpactOS

Most options solve one slice: advice, carbon, files or project tracking. ImpactOS connects the conversation, the gaps, the evidence and the carbon work in one place, built for SMEs doing this without a dedicated team.

A note on B Corp and B Lab

ImpactOS is an independent software platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of B Lab. B Corp Certification decisions, standards and timelines sit with B Lab, and certification requires meeting B Lab's requirements and completing B Lab's verification process. What ImpactOS does is structure the preparation: the conversation, the gaps, the evidence and the carbon baseline.

No black-box claims. Every answer connects back to the source evidence.

Your data is protected to the highest standards, so you can share evidence with complete confidence. ImpactOS is ISO 27001 certified, SOC 2 Type 2 attested and GDPR aligned.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What changed in the new B Corp standards?

B Lab published V2 of its standards in April 2025, with a V2.1 clarification update in August 2025. The points-based assessment is replaced by minimum requirements across seven impact topics, alongside Foundation Requirements that include a company risk profile, with continuous improvement expected at Year 0, Year 3 and Year 5.

Does ImpactOS get us certified?

No. Certification decisions sit with B Lab and follow B Lab's verification process. ImpactOS structures the readiness work: framing the topics, finding the gaps, organising evidence and building the carbon baseline, so certification conversations start from organised ground.

Do we need a consultant as well?

That's your call. Some teams work with an adviser and some don't. Either way, ImpactOS replaces the scattered folders and the spreadsheet gap analysis with one structured workspace, which makes any adviser conversation faster and better informed.

How does the carbon baseline work?

Activity data is collected and structured with corporate inventory logic for Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3, using GHG Protocol logic and UK Government conversion factors, with boundaries, assumptions and calculation records kept visible for auditability.

We're already certified. Is this still relevant?

Yes. Recertification under the new standards is where much of the work now sits. Whether you're starting fresh, recertifying or maintaining, ImpactOS keeps the topics, evidence and carbon data current rather than rebuilt at each deadline.
